Glorious Goodwood - the Race!
Glorious Goodwood
Glorious Goodwood is one of the highlights of the British horse racing calendar, providing three annual Group 1 races (Sussex Stakes, Goodwood Cup, and Nassau Stakes) and giving race fans something else to get excited about when summer rolls around. Glorious Goodwood is held at the Goodwood Racecourse and is officially known as the Qatar Goodwood Festival following a sponsorship deal. The festival’s races are streamed on major horse racing channels and are watched by millions of people around the world, including countless fans that flock to the West Sussex course to watch in person. Glorious Goodwood is made for flat racing, which means there are no jumps or hurdles and everything is much faster and shorter. There are some sharp twists and turns in the track as well as a six-furlong straight that is mostly downhill, allowing horses to reach huge speeds. This festival may not be the biggest in the sport, but it’s certainly up there and is one of the most exciting, especially for bettors seeking a gambling opportunity. Just remember to gamble responsibly at all times. Glorious Goodwood Races
There is no shortage of high-quality races to watch during Glorious Goodwood. It’s a showcase for some of the best flat racing horses and jockeys in the sport and it also attracts the best trainers. The races include Group 3s like the Molecomb Stakes, which is a fast-paced race over just 5 furlongs, and the Stewards Handicap, which is run over 6 furlongs. The three biggest races held during Glorious Goodwood are the Sussex Stakes, Nassau Stakes and Goodwood Cup, all of which are Group 1s. The latter of these was first run in 1808, covers 2 miles and was the stomping ground of Double Trigger, who won three out of four Goodwood Cups from 1995 to 1998. The Nassau Stakes, which covers 1 mile and is run by mares and fillies over 3, played host to Midday, a Khalid Abdullah horse that won it three times in a row starting in 2009. The Sussex Stakes is also run over a mile for horses aged 3 and above. This race was won by Frankel in 2011 and 2012. The unbeaten horse, also owned by Khalid Abdullah, is thought to be one of the greatest ever and retired with an unblemished record and lifetime earnings of just under £3 million.
Betting on Glorious Goodwood
Glorious Goodwood may not be as popular with horse racing fans as Cheltenham or as well known as the Grand National, but it’s still a jewel in this sport’s crown. It has provided a showcase for the best horses in the UK over the years, including Frankel, who many consider the best horse ever. If you want speed and excitement, you can’t get much better than this and that’s why we offer a wide range of betting markets on Glorious Goodwood. The most popular bets on this summer festival are race bets—simply choose your winner or placers and you’re good to go! Forecast bets are also very popular with players seeking the big odds. The goal of these bets is to choose the winner and the placers, significantly boosting your odds in the process. You can also boost your odds by backing an accumulator, whereby you select the winner/placers of multiple races. Just remember, higher odds mean a lower chance of success. Whether you’re betting on favourites in Group 1 races or backing a long-shot in a handicap, Glorious Goodwood has it all and Karamba backs it every step of the way. Place your bets and enjoy the festival! 4
